Keep Your Screen Awake While You Cook with Feastmark Cook Mode
By Raul C. Peña ·
You propped your phone against the flour jar, you’re halfway through the recipe, and the screen goes dark. Your hands are covered in dough. Now you have to wipe them off, unlock the phone, and find your place again.
Cook Mode is built to stop that. It shows the step you’re on in big type, keeps your screen awake, and offers a timer when a step mentions a time.
One step at a time
The step you’re on fills the screen in big type. It’s easy to read at a glance, even with messy hands and a busy counter.
The screen stays awake
In Cook Mode the screen never sleeps in the middle of a recipe. It stays on until you’re done, so you can leave your phone or iPad on the counter and glance at it whenever you need to.
Ingredients sit beside the steps
You don’t have to flip back to a long ingredient list. Ingredients sit inline beside the steps, and they stay checked off where you left them. If you check off the onions and then the phone gets set down for ten minutes, they will still be checked when you pick it back up.
Timers that read the step
Say a step reads “simmer for 20 minutes.” Cook Mode reads the time out of the step and offers it as a one-tap countdown. If a step has no time in the text, you can start a timer yourself.
On iPad
On iPad, turn it sideways and the step sits beside the list. I use mine on a stand in the kitchen, so the step and the ingredient list are both in view while my hands are busy.
It works offline
Your library, Cook Mode, and your cook log all work with no connection. A spotty signal in the kitchen won’t stop you. Only importing a new recipe needs the network, since the link has to be fetched and read.
After you cook
When you finish, you can rate what you made, add a photo, and write down what you’d change. That note is the first thing waiting for you the next time you open the recipe.
If you haven’t saved a recipe yet, here is how to save one from a TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or Facebook video.
